Skaftåsen Wind Farm

Skaftåsen wind farm has been developed by Arise and is a great reference project that demonstrates our capacity to manage the entire value chain – from exploration and permitting, to financing, construction, divestment and long-term management of renewable electricity production.

Construction began in 2020 and the wind farm was inaugurated in October 2023. The wind farm is located in Härjedalen Municipality on the border of Dalarna and east of Lillhärdal. Skaftåsen's 35 turbines and 231 MW generate approximately 537 GWh per year, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption for about 110,000 households.

A project of this magnitude is of huge benefit to local business, local residents and the municipality both during construction and when in operation. A good example of this is the agreement signed between the farm’s owner and a local community association called Medvind för bygden, which receives part of the revenue from the electricity produced from the turbines. These funds are of significant benefit for the community and help associations and businesses to thrive.

Victor Johansson, Chairman of the Medvind för bygden association, says that “the partnership provides value for the community by helping associations and local business to operate. We are to make sure that the funds provide the greatest possible benefit by working to create jobs that make it possible for people to remain living here while making the area attractive for people to move here”.
